Younger Member Policy (Under 18 Years of Age) NIC Systems Group, Inc. (hereinafter “NIC”) is extremely concerned about under age people gaining access to areas of the internet that are not suitable for minors. NIC is taking every possible precaution to ensure this does not occur, however, we cannot do it alone. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to know what their children are doing, and where they are going while surfing the internet. Due to recent regulations passed by the federal government, NIC does not accept minors as members without the expressed written consent of the parent(s) or guardian(s). The parent or guardian is responsible for the material viewed by their underage child(ren). Parents who apply for accounts on behalf of their underage children should understand the Internet may contain materials and content that may be considered inappropriate. We offer for download from our Members Area optional Parental Control Software from Cyber Patrol. We urge all parents of underage children using the Internet to seriously consider this product for their protection. NIC reserves the right to suspend or terminate any Member's account at any time and without notice if we suspect the user has misrepresented his or her age. Additionally, NIC does not currently target its services, nor does NIC intend to collect any information from anyone under eighteen (18) years of age. However, some of our websites do contain links to content providers that collect such information. These companies are expected to comply with all laws pertaining to the collection of information from children. Because the Internet offers open access to a wide range of information, it is important that parents supervise and prevent access to inappropriate content, email or chat sessions. To improve the services NIC can offer you, NIC may opt to expand its capabilities for obtaining information about users in the future. NIC will update this continually to ensure that you are aware of developments in this area.
